Catchment Projects: Two Mile Creek

The Two Mile Creek and Darley Drain catchments are separate catchments, but they become inter-linked when rainfall gets heavy.

Both catchments have stormwater runs down towards the beach and out of one of the two man-made outlets, Darley Drain or Two Mile Creek.

The Two Mile Creek catchment relies on Two Mile Creek outlet to be running smoothly and un-impeded. The outlet can often become blocked with sand during high tide and storm surge events. Council has a resource consent with Regional Council to clear out the outlet of the creek when required.

The banks of Two Mile Creek have been suffering from erosion. This project is important to the management of stormwater as it is the catalyst to enable further planned stormwater capital works to begin.
