Te Puna and Minden
Te Puna/Minden is a rapidly growing community as growth pushes from Tauranga City and Omokoroa.
It is home to the Pirirakau hapu – of the Ngati Ranginui Iwi.
Te Puna village intersects SH2 from Katikati to Tauranga and is a mix of industrial, commercial, retail and residential activity, including the Te Puna Business Park which is the main retail and café complex.
A popular attraction is the Te Puna Quarry Park – a vast rock garden transformed from a disused rock quarry to a local treasure. Covering about 32 hectares, the quarry park is a myriad of walking tracks, waterways and art. From the higher points, there are stunning coastal views extending from the Coromandel to the eastern Bay.
The Minden lookout overlooks Te Puna and is popular spot to view the spectacular Western Bay and Tauranga coastline. On clear days, the lookout’s viewing platform provides a panorama of nearly the entire Bay of Plenty.
