Types of consents that can be applied for

There are a wide range of application types that the consenting team assess and make decisions on. The majority of consents are required under the Resource Management Act 1991, but the team also process consents required by the Local Government Act and the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act.

Council’s online system allows you to apply for up to 27 different application types. These applications are available via three different application forms:

New Application Types

The ‘New’ application types are the best place to start if there hasn’t already been any planning approval given for the proposed activity someone is looking to carry out.
Variation Application Types

The 'Variation’ application types are where a planning decision has been issued by Council, but there is a need to change, alter, vary or extend it in some way.
Approval and Certification Application Types

The ‘Approval and Certification’ application types (Post) are the subsequent certification or additional approval required once a decision has been made or an objection to a decision Council has made.
