Kayla and Chevi's story
Border Terrier (Kayla), and Cairns Terrier X Teddy 🐻 (Chevi)
Backstory: Kayla and Chevi’s previous owner unfortunately passed away and their family requested assistance rehoming them as they were not in a position to take them on and had run out of options.
Owners report: Kayla and Chevi have been with us since December 2023, and I was surprised at just how quickly and easily they integrated into the family unit and found their place within the existing flock of terrierdactals now at five.
As time has gone by, their individual personalities have come out more and more. Kayla is a very confident dog who loves romping through our paddocks following the scent of bunnies. Yet to catch one though.... and thankfully, she gives the cats a very respectful wide berth.
Chevi is nowhere near as confident. He's been improving but still has quite a long way to go yet. He’s been on a strict diet and lost some of the excess weight (there's still a lot more to come off yet) and now he’s able to keep up with the others the daily walks have become a lot more pleasurable for him.
Both Chevi and Kayla are complete water rats, although Chevi resembles more of a hippopotamus. They both head straight into the water and stay in for as long as possible.
As with most terriers, their ears are just there for decoration some days but thankfully this too is improving.
It's been a real pleasure taking these two on. Seeing their confidence improving and watching their pure enjoyment in life is well worth the effort. They are both such devoted dogs in their own special way. There is still a lot more work ahead of us but totally worth it as they are just wonderful wee pocket rockets (large pockets!)
