The Papamoa to Maketu shared walkway and cycleway is an 11km route starting from Bell Road (beside the Kaituna River) or a 13km route starting from Papamoa, Te Okuroa Drive. Heading south, the ride joins the Tauranga Eastern Link shared path cycleway. Another 1.5km approximately after crossing the Kaituna River, exit onto Kaituna Rd. Follow Kaituna Road all the way to the Maketu Road shared path for the last leg along the Maketu Estuary.
What to see along the way?
- The track has some great views of the Maketu Estuary.
- Maketu is of course home to the famous Maketu Pies.
- Kotukutuku Gully is only a 15 minute walk away from the Maketu township entrance.
