Reserve Management Plans are a statutory requirement under
the Reserves Act 1977 and are prepared in accordance with this Act. There are
management plans in place for 222 reserves across the Western Bay of Plenty
District.

We are in the process of developing an interactive map of our reserves across the District. This map includes the recreation features each reserve has including playgrounds and BBQ’s. So far the Te Puke-Maketu Ward reserves are mapped and maps of our Kaimai and Katikati-Waihi Beach Wards will be available soon.

District wide reserve management information
Council’s District wide reserve management information applies to reserves across Councils three wards. It includes information about the statutory context, the maintenance levels of service and the reserves objectives and policies which guide Councils approach to the management of its reserves.

Ward specific reserve and sub-regional park management information
The Western Bay of Plenty District is made up of three wards, and Council has a Reserve Management Plan for each these as well as a plan for each sub-regional park in the district. Information in these documents apply specifically to the place and provides a one-stop reference point for each reserve that includes its reserves classification, legal status, the area it covers, any infrastructure or funding for capital projects and community aspirations we have heard for the reserve.
