Tag. You’re it! What do you love about your local reserves?
Ōmokoroa, Te Puna, Whakamārama, Omanawa, Kaimai, Ohauiti, Oropi - what do you love about your local reserves, and how can we make them even better?
Western Bay of Plenty District Council is kicking off the review of its Kaimai Ward Reserve Management Plan and wants to hear your thoughts on how the spaces where we play, explore, and unwind can be enhanced.
With close to 50 unique reserves - ranging from playgrounds and sportsgrounds to bush trails and scenic spots for picnics, this plan will shape how we care for these spaces for the next nine years.
“The community knows these spaces best, and we want your ideas to be at the heart of this plan,” says Council’s Senior Recreation Planner, Jason Crummer.
“It could be a few extra trees for shade, a walking track to connect neighbourhoods, or even new playground equipment. Whatever it is, we’re here to listen.”
With rapid growth in the Kaimai Ward, it’s time to reimagine how our reserves serve the community now and in the future. This is your chance to help us create spaces that are welcoming, sustainable, and ready for generations to come.
The Kaimai Ward Reserve Management Plan, last reviewed in 2016, is being updated to make sure our green spaces continue to reflect the needs and values of the people who use them. Your feedback will guide what we focus on. The revised plan will set the direction for reserves in the Kaimai ward area for the next nine years.
“We’ve made great progress since 2016, but we want to continue to deliver what the community needs, so it’s crucial that we plan for the future together,” says Jason.
“Your feedback will help shape the draft Kaimai Ward Reserve Management Plan, which will be shared again with the community early next year for further input.”
