Get your pup barking up the right tree
Want to take your doggo from ruff to refined?
Come along to the Western Bay of Plenty District Council’s Doggy Day Out on 16 March for some top training tips from internationally renowned animal behaviour expert Mark Vette.
Mark joined us for the paw-pular canine event last year and we are excited to have him return this year to share his knowledge and techniques.
Known for his work on the hit TV show ‘Purina Pound Pups to Dog Stars’, which airs in over 150 countries, Mark has over 40 years of experience studying and training dogs.
In the lead-up, Council is inviting dog owners to pose their questions to Mark, via their Facebook page, to be answered on the day.
The importance of the ‘formative period’ and what to do if you’ve missed it, critical things to do and when, and key training techniques are just some of the wisdom that Mark will be sharing during his presentation.
The Doggy Day Out is being held at the Ōmokoroa Sport Ground between 10am and 2pm, and this year’s theme is ‘Beach Day’, with prizes for the best-dressed beach buddies.
There will also be agility demonstrations, food and doggy stalls, pony rides, face painting, a photobooth, kids’ area… and more!
Council animal services staff will also be on hand to share their vast knowledge and experience.
“It’s a fantastic opportunity for our community to come together, celebrate our furry friends, and promote responsible pet ownership,” says Animal Services Education Officer Betty Hall.
“We are lucky to have Mark with us again, supporting the Western Bay’s biggest dog event of the year, and we look forward seeing all the dogs dressed in their beachwear best.”
