Your library card now travels
Western Bay of Plenty District Council library members can now use their card at more libraries in the east and west of the Bay of Plenty under a new initiative launched this month.
The One Library Card system enables members to use their card to borrow from their local library as well as neighbouring public libraries without having to join up again.
Council libraries offering One Library Card are our Western Bay of Plenty libraries in Te Puke, Katikati, Omokoroa, Waihi Beach plus Eastern Bay public libraries in Kawerau, Opotiki, Whakatane, Rotorua and Taupo.
Methods of borrowing and returning remain the same. Items just need to be returned to the library from which they are borrowed.
Libraries Team Leader Amanda-Jane McFadden says the One Library Card collaboration is another way in which libraries across the Bay of Plenty can share resources and offer a better service to customers.
Western Bay, Kawerau, Opotiki, Whakatane, Rotorua and Taupo libraries have been working together as a regional group using their joint buying power to enhance eBook and eAudio collections.
"The One Library Card gives borrowers a greater variety of choice and resources across the wider Bay of Plenty public libraries. There's no need to get a new library card - simply use the card you already have."
