Two Mile Creek final milestone
Property owners involved in the Two Mile Creek erosion protection were invited to a gathering this month to celebrate the completion of the project.
Western Bay of Plenty District Council's Utilities Manager Kelvin Hill and Project Manager Su Young Ko met with property owners to wrap up what has been a challenging project.
This has been a long but exciting six-month journey that has brought some challenges along the way, and a great opportunity to reflect on the project from its start to finish,'' says Su Young.
Changes to the original design and delays due to the weather did delay the project; but we're very happy that it's now complete.''
Su Young says the support and cooperation of the affected property owners has been invaluable to the success of the project and enabled Council to make helpful changes to the original design to adapt to specific property requirements.
The creek certainly looks very different with the many improvements including the rock revetment along the creek sides; a training groyne along the right hand side; grouted rock walls on both sides of the Dillon Street bridge; geotextile fabric anchoring behind the revetment; a concrete access ramp; new stormwater outlets and a safety fence.
A bonus for the public is that the concrete ramp can be used as an alternative beach access.
