Panepane Wharf under repair
Scheduled repairs to Panepane Wharf at Matakana Island have started this week and will take three to six weeks to complete.
Repairs are being done by HEB Construction and include replacing some timber piles and the access stairway. The work is necessary for the structural integrity and safety of the wharf.
Western Bay of Plenty District Council says during the maintenance work, access to the wharf will only be available via the stairs on the eastern side of the wharf - as shown in the photograph.
Access to the wharf for boat passengers, including school pupils will be possible most of the time during construction
However, the wharf may need to be closed for brief periods for safety reasons and Council apologises for any inconvenience caused.
