More parking spaces for Katikati

Western Bay District Council, in consultation with the Katikati Community Board, has purchased a block of land in Katikati and made part of it available for public car parking.

The new parking area is on the corner of Kotahi Lane and State Highway Two.

The Katikati Town Centre Plan recognises the need for additional public parking in the town centre. The property on the corner of Kotahi Lane was identified as a suitable location for this activity.

Council intends to upgrade the area and formalise the parking spaces, but in the meantime it's available for public use in its unformed state. Drivers are advised that the surface is uneven.

Council staff are working through options with regard to the remainder of the land, which is likely to be sold off.
