Enviro Expo promises action-packed day
Te Puke will showcase the diversity of the environment with the Enviro Expo in October, hosted by Environment Te Puke, in the Orchard Church on MacLoughlin Drive.
Western Bay of Plenty District Council is sponsoring the event again following the success of last year's inaugural event which was themed Out East Enviro Expo.
Expo coordinator Monique Lints says this year's event is expected to be bigger and more diverse, including many who took part last year plus new participants.
"The theme is the natural environment and ways in which people can enhance the environment in which they work, live and play.
"We had 25 organisations involved last year, which was a great start. This year the event will be extra special with the lovely display and presentation space in the Orchard Church.
"We don't celebrate the environment enough - so this is a perfect day to put environmental issues in front of the community and to invite the community to take part.''
High on the Expo agenda is the Eco Market - celebrating everything natural and enviro-friendly.
The Eco Market is a first this year and there will be a special focus on recycled art - wearable and static.
Schools and adults can take part in fashioning wearable art and sculptures from re-used, recyclables and rubbish items with the theme `Nature'. There will be a Trash-to-Fash catwalk presentation of the wearable art, judged by local identities.
Spaces are limited in the Eco Market and there are commercial spaces are available for a small fee.
The Expo will include permaculture and sustainable eco-living; container and tiny house options; solid waste management initiatives; seminars; demonstrations; presentations from environmental groups; special projects across the District. There is no charge for not-for-profit displays.
The action-packed day will also have a caf and barista available for the public to enjoy.
If you are interested in taking part in the Enviro Expo please contact Monique Lints to book your spot as soon as possible.
