Join us for the dog event of the year!
It’s back baby! Bigger and better than ever. Don’t miss Doggy Day Out at Ōmokoroa Sports Ground this weekend - 10am-1pm, Saturday 25 February.
Western Bay of Plenty District Council’s annual animal showpiece is set to be an epic event for dog owners, full of plenty of whānau fun and doggo delight.
The theme this year is ‘superdogs’, so dress your pooch in their best superhero costume and be in to win some cool prizes!
It’s also about showcasing the fantastic work Council’s animal services team does – from dog training and education to adoptions and fostering. So, make sure to pop into our animal services tent to have a kōrero!
Check out the pawtastic things happening on the day:
- Training and behaviour tips from world-renowned animal behaviourist Mark Vette
- Agility demonstrations from Mount Maunganui Dog Training Club
- Education talks with our awesome animal services officer Betty Hall
- Meet some of the gorgeous dogs up for adoption
- Lots of fun for tamariki – including pony rides, face painting, bouncy castle, and special kids’ area thanks to Ōmokoroa Library
- Snap some selfies with your whānau at the photobooth
- Fab doggy market stalls
- Delicious food vendors
- Music from FUSE Drumming
We’ve also got a couple of fun competitions running in the lead up to the event. We’re looking for the best superhero themed name for one of our beautiful adoption dogs. She came to us in a bad way and we reckon she deserves a ‘superdog’ name! Head to our Facebook page and tell us your best name idea for a chance to win an online training prize from the legendary Mark Vette. Closes 12pm Friday 24 Feb.
And for tamariki - our library teams have got a fun colouring competition just for them - pop into your local library to get a copy, or download one from our website, and drop it off at any of our libraries until Thursday 23 Feb, or by 12pm at the Doggy Day Out event.
See westernbay.govt.nz/doggydayout for all the info and event updates.
