Status quo for kerbside collections on Labour Day
You can put your kerbside bins out as usual this Labour Day public holiday.
Western Bay of Plenty District Council’s Kerbside Collective services will be doing their regular rounds on Labour Day Monday 24 October, servicing Waihī Beach, Athenree and Bowentown.
If Monday is your usual collection day - please put your bins out by 7am as normal and attach a PAYT tag to your red bin as needed. Remember to attach the PAYT tag to the red rubbish bin by looping through both the red lid handle and black bin handle and fastening it.
Ilze Kruis Council’s Resource Recovery and Waste Team Leader says it’s great to be able to offer a consistent service for our residents, with as little disruption as possible.
“Our communities start to get a little busier with visitors at this time of year, so it’s great our kerbside team can continue to collect the rubbish and recycling as usual.
“And if you have a holiday house or AirBnB rented out, please let your guests know how to attach a PAYT tag, and to put their bins on the kerb by 7am.”
Western Bay’s community recycling centre opening hours will also be operating as usual over the long weekend, with no changes to opening hours and no Monday opening.
All library and service centres will be keeping their normal weekend hours (libraries open until midday on Saturday, closed Sunday) and will also close on Labour Day Monday. However, if you need to get in touch with something urgent over the weekend, you can call us on 0800 726 923, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
You can also use the Antenno app to contact our team or report issues. Learn more about the app and where to download it at westernbay.govt.nz/antenno
Otherwise, our doors will be open again on Tuesday 25 October, and our team will be ready to help you in whatever way we can.
