Cruise through summer in the Western Bay
Keen to grab a summer read for the holidays? Not sure when to put your bins out?
Western Bay of Plenty District Council has all the information you need to know to enjoy a summer of smooth sailing in the Western Bay of Plenty.
A dedicated webpage has been created for all of Council’s essential services -westernbay.govt.nz/summer-information
Holidaymakers and residents love to make the most of what the Western Bay has to offer over summer. It’s great to see, and we want to make sure everyone has the support from Council to have a smooth summer.
Many services remain mostly unchanged over the holidays – such as kerbside collections which carry on as usual. However, walking your dog at Waihī Beach, for example, is subject to controls that protect nesting birds and Athenree Recycling Centre has additional hours over the summer period.
It pays for residents and holidaymakers to jump online and have a look.
Council will have our four Freedom Camping Ambassadors roaming the District hotspots over the holidays, and will be eager to help people out with information on responsible camping and all the Western Bay has to offer.
Council’s ‘summer services’ webpage includes information on
- Library and service centre hours
- Kerbside collections
- Recycling centre hours
- Freedom camping sites
- Dog walking spots
- Public drinking bans
Council will close all its offices and libraries from 12pm Friday, 24 December 2021 and resume normal hours on Wednesday, 5 January 2022.
Anyone can contact Council 24 hours 7 days a week on 0800 WBOPDC (0800 926 732), and if the matter is not urgent, email customer.service@westernbay.govt.nz and the team will get in touch on 5 January.
Mere Kirihimete and happy holidaying from the Council crew.
