Seawall repair works planned for Kotuku Reserve

Vehicle access to the Kotuku Reserve’s pontoon will be off limits from next week as repair works to the rock seawall get underway.

From Monday 22 November contractors Fulton Hogan will undertake the repairs in an effort to prevent ongoing erosion along the roadway.

It is anticipated the works will be completed by Friday 17 December. Vehicle access to the reserve’s pontoon will be closed during this time.

Western Bay of Plenty District Council’s Reserves and Facilities Projects and Assets Manager Scott Parker says the repair works will help prevent ongoing erosion undermining the driveway between the boat ramp and the pontoon at Kotuku Reserve.

The pontoon itself remains open for use but will only be accessible by pedestrian access from the Plummers Point Road track at the northern end, not via the reserve entrance driveway.

The boat ramp may also have restricted access at times during the seawall repair works.

“We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause to everyone but doing these works now means we will have it completed this side of Christmas,” says Scott.
