Council meetings to be livestreamed
This Thursday’s Western Bay of Plenty District Council committee meetings will be recorded and streamed live online. The meetings include a District Plan meeting at 9am, followed by a Performance and Monitoring Committee meeting at 9.30am.
Council’s Customer Service and Governance Manager, Barbara Whitton says, “We’ve made the call to livestream the meeting so anyone who’s interested can watch while also keeping safe and adhering to the Alert Level 2 requirements.
“Maintaining a high level of transparency is key to having the trust of our community. It’s important we ensure people can see and hear the meeting if we can’t safely accommodate everyone in-person.”
The meeting will be available to watch on Council’s YouTube channel and Facebook.
A small number of people can still attend in person, but this is restricted by the size of the Council Chamber and needing to maintain two metres of social distancing.
Barbara says, “Anyone who would like to take part in the public forum can do so by registering with Council’s Governance Team two days in advance of the meeting.
“When you register, our team will email and confirm your attendance either in person or via zoom and will include details around Council's meeting protocols. Depending on the number of speakers registered, we may not be able to accommodate supporters with you in Chambers.”
