Omokoroa to Tauranga Cycleway surveys user satisfaction
Cyclists and walkers on the Omokoroa to Tauranga Cycleway will spot a couple of people in hi-vis vests this weekend keen to swap cycleway feedback for free coffee.
Western Bay of Plenty District Council is running the survey to get feedback for future decisions on the cycleway and to understand more about the users and their experiences. It will run from Friday, 18 December until several days prior to Christmas.
Council’s Project Manager Scott Parker says it is timely to get a survey done now that the cycleway has been completed during the past 18 months and is being enjoyed by a wide section of the community – both for recreational and commuter purposes.
Two interviewers wearing hi-vis, from independent survey company Xyst Limited, will be working along the cycleway at several locations and a coffee cart will be available at a couple of places for people to relax and chat.
If you’re keen to add your thoughts to the survey they’ll shout you a free coffee.
Xyst Limited specialises in surveys at parks and facilities around New Zealand and Australia where users are interviewed at selected locations.
Alison Rawley from Xyst will be one of the two interviewers and says she hopes people will be willing to stop for a few moments and answer some questions. Feedback from the survey will benefit both users and Council.
“From the users’ perspective this is an opportunity to give feedback on how they use the cycleway, aspects that are of most value to them and suggest where improvements could be made,” says Alison.
“From Council’s perspective this feedback will identify things Council may not have considered and that may need more attention. It’s not until you ask the users that you understand what is important to them and how well it is being received. It’s all about meeting in the middle for the provider and the user.”
Survey locations will be: Omokoroa Esplanade; Huharua Park (coffee cart); Jess Road (coffee cart); Lochhead Road and Wairoa River Reserve. Surveys may also be carried out in a couple of off-trail locations that users enjoy visiting.
The survey will also be available online so that users can give their feedback even if they don’t meet one of the interviewers. The online survey can be found here
