Waihi Beach Village upgrade
Two significant upgrade projects are being carried out in Waihi Beach over the next two weeks, starting from Monday 14 September (weather dependent). Both projects will be done by our contractor, GrindKing.
Footpath upgrade
Works will begin on the Waihi Beach Village footpath upgrade on Wilson Road between Snell Crescent and Citrus Avenue.
The top level of the footpath (1-2mm) will be ground off and resealed, leaving the footpath with a new face. While there may be some patches in the footpath where the repair works don’t exactly match, we are expecting an overall refreshed appearance in the village.
The work will be done outside of normal business hours and overnight to minimise any disruption to business owners and customers, however the work site will span the entire width of the footpath up to each business frontage.
Please note, there will be some noise disturbance for nearby residents during the overnight works.
Rubbish bin replacement
The existing rubbish bins in the village are outdated and an inefficient use of space. New bins will be located throughout the village in the most suitable locations.
Skate park surface rejuvenation
The skate park at the Waihi Beach Community Centre is getting a surface rejuvenation.
Work is expected to take just over two weeks (approximately). During the work, sections of the skate park will be closed and we ask that the public keep clear of the work areas.
Once finished, the skate park will offer a more pleasant experience and provide a better skate surface.
