Yeah or Nah - Have your say on Western Bay
29 March 2019
Events in Omokoroa and Oropi have launched Western Bay of Plenty District Council's 2019-2020 Annual Plan consultation and five more drop-in sessions are planned around the District.
Council wants to hear from the community about its proposal to start a Council contracted recycling and rubbish collection.
Under the proposal Council will contract kerbside recycling (paid in your rates) and rubbish collection (pay per pick up) across approximately 80 percent of the District. In urban areas, we'll also collect biodegradable food scraps. Council would introduce the new services in 2021.
Council is also seeking residents' feedback on:
- should Council install rural recycling drop-off points in areas that may not receive a kerbside service;
- changes to some bylaws and policies - including gambling (pokie machines); traffic and parking; animals (excluding dogs); cemeteries; freedom camping
- Council's approach to debt management
- changes to some targeted rates
Council encourages residents to come along to the Have Your Say events over the next three weeks and share your views on the proposals:
- Saturday 30 March, 9am-12pm, Waihi Beach RSA
- Wednesday 3 April, 4pm-7pm, Te Puna Quarry Park Gallery
- Saturday 6 April, 9am-12pm, Te Puke Memorial Hall
- Wednesday 10 April, 4pm-7pm, Maketu Community Centre
- Saturday 13 April, 9am-12pm, Katikati Community Centre, The Centre - Pātuki Manawa
