Te Puke Library spookiest place in town
Monday 5 November 2018
Te Puke Library has taken the top prize as the spookiest place in town.
The library won the Halloween Treat Trail for 2018 for the fantastic Halloween Cave that transformed The Boardroom into a spooktacular hideaway complete with graves, black lighting and ghostly tales.
Library Manager Amanda-Jane McFadden says it was a team effort to come up with ideas over the last few months.
"After last year's event we wanted to go bigger and better. We wanted to create a spooky walk-through that the kids would enjoy. We are thrilled to have won first place, but for us it is about being involved with the community and the fantastic events we have in Te Puke."
Creative Te Puke judge Wendy Ellis says it was clear a tremendous amount of work had gone in to the library's display, including clever electrics.
"The effect of the white light was amazing - and the kids just loved it!"
This year's Treat Trail, sponsored by EastPack Coolstore and organised by Epic Te Puke, turned the town into a Halloween costume parade with families coming from near and far to take part.
Epic Te Puke marketing manager Rebecca Larsen says everyone deserves a massive thank you for their contribution.
"Thank you Te Puke - you are a Halloween destination. The town has shown off its businesses to many people with this superb effort."
Second place went to Conway and Carpenter Electrical and Molly O'Connor took third place.
