Sealing to improve lodge access

Access to the Aongatete Outdoor Education Centre and the Kaimai Forest Park will be improved with the decision to seal Aongatete Lodge Road.
Western Bay of Plenty District Council has agreed to a request from local residents to add the short length of Aongatete Lodge Road to the seal extension work planned for Wright Road this construction year.
Aongatete Lodge Road provides access to the Outdoor Education Centre, the Department of Conservation's ranger's house, a public car park and the Kaimai Forest Park. Council will also asphalt the Kaimai Forest Park car park to cater for the large usage by visitors to the Park and Education Centre.
The addition of the Aongatete Lodge Road to the seal extension work will not jeopardise any other roads already on Council's seal extension priority list and the cost will be funded from the existing seal extension budget of $1 million per year.
The stretch of Aongatete Lodge Road to be sealed will not include the short length of driveway from the carparking area to the Outdoor Education Centre.
