A car parking area in Te Puke has been leased to Western Bay of Plenty District Council by Osprey Trust which owns commercial property in the town.
The 14 public car parks, including parks for the disabled, are on Commerce Street, directly east of the Heritage Walkway. The parks, available for day and night parking, will enable easy access to the town centre and the supermarket area off Commerce Lane.
Trustee John Donald says he is happy to work with Council provided the tenants' access and parking areas (which are clearly marked) are left free for their use.
Council's Strategic Property Manager Blaise Williams says Council welcomes the opportunity for private land owners to provide parking space as it gives Te Puke shoppers and retail staff more options for parking.
