Omokoroa to Tauranga cycleway update
Most of the work will be done from a crane mounted on a barge and will take about six weeks to complete.
Unfortunately curious Omokoroans can't get up close to the construction site - the access track along railway is owned by KiwiRail who don't allow unauthorised entry.
When the bridge complete, there will still be no public connection until land has been made available for public use (date TBC) and adjoining tracks built.
Omokoroa cycleway section temporarily closed
Work will start on boardwalk construction along the stretch from Tinopai Reserve to Cooney Reserve within the next three weeks and the walkway will be closed for up to six weeks.
During the closure, walkers can still use the walkway from Cooney Reserve to the Omokoroa Boat Club, but will have to detour through Cooney Reserve to Margaret Drive and down to Tinopai Drive to rejoin the cycleway.
Plummers Point progress
Construction along the Newnham Road paper road section will begin within the next two weeks and the construction of Bridge Three - connecting the end of Jess Road to Newnham Road in Te Puna will take place late this year.
Cycleway trail work around Plummers Point to connect the south end of Bridge One and Huharua Park, is in the consent planning phase and work is not expected to begin until September.
