Omokoroa open days kick off new planning phase
Omokoroa is starting the next phase of planning with two open days for the community to share their views and take a look at some of the options for the peninsula's future development.
The open days will focus on the area between the railway line and State Highway 2 based on a document called the Omokoroa structure plan.
Western Bay of Plenty District councillors and staff will be at the open days to explain the plan in detail and listen to people's views and ideas.
The open days are Friday 24 November, from 3pm until 5pm, and Tuesday 28 November, from 7pm until 9pm - both at the Omokoroa Community Church in Hamurana Road.
Council's Resource Management Manager Phillip Martelli says: We're asking people to visualise 2060 and think about how the peninsula will change and how planned development needs to occur to make it a great place to live, learn, work and play in.''
Topics addressed at the open days will be the community's culture, heritage and arts; the local economy; the natural environment; recreation and leisure facilities; transport and access around the peninsula and the land use and built form of the area.
Content in both open days will be identical. If you would like to attend one, register by emailing Charlotte Brisby (charlotte.brisby@westernbay.govt.nz) or call Council on 0800 926 732.
Draft plans and summaries of the workshops will be posted online at haveyoursay.westernbay.govt.nz.
