What a great 2019 these two gorgeous souls will have.
Moss and Cassie found their new homes just in time for Christmas - within a few days of arriving at Council for adoption - and we are so thrilled for them and their wonderful new families.
Moss came to us after his owner passed away. But after one adoption meeting with his prospective new owner, Emily, (pictured with Moss) the sparks flew. Moss travelled with Emily to his new home in Auckland last weekend.
Since arriving in his new home he has settled in nicely with his new family - including two other dogs - and has even had a swim or two in the sea.
Cassie the Catahoula Leopard Dog-cross was also rehomed last week with Rebecca and Ben in Pongakawa. The distinctively marked Catahoula is an Australian working dog breed.
Cassie came to Council two weeks ago after being found roaming on to Ben and Rebecca's property. They asked Council is they could adopt her if no one came to claim her. So when Cassie's time was up in the pound and no one had claimed her, we called Rebecca and Ben and they jumped at the chance to take her home.
Cassie will have a very special role - being trained as a trauma dog working with trauma victims associated with where Rebecca works.
So that's a great start for our adopt-a-dog programme for 2019 year.
All our adopted dogs are temperament tested and given training before homes are sought.
We get so many awesome dogs though our pound and it is such a blessing when they find a new place and purpose in the world.
