There's one week left for people to have their say on Western Bay of Plenty District Council's annual plan consultation proposals.
Council is asking for feedback on proposed changes to some important policies and bylaws, as well as a proposal to introduce a Council-contracted kerbside recycling and rubbish collection service.
Closing date for submissions is Thursday, 18 April at 4pm.
Policy and Planning Manager Emily Watton says more than 200 people have attended the six open days so far and this has resulted in some very useful feedback - particularly about the proposed change to a Council-contracted kerbside rubbish and recycling service.
Council also wants to hear from the community about the other proposals out for consultation:
- Traffic and Parking Enforcement Bylaw
- Gambling venue policies
- Trading in Public Places Bylaw
- Freedom Camping Bylaw
- General Bylaw - Animals (excluding dogs); Cemeteries, Public Places; and proposed revocation of the Nuisances Bylaw.
"These policies and bylaws relate to many day-to-day activities and it's important we get the right balance with our final regulations" says Emily.
Council adopted its draft Annual Plan (for 1 July 2019 - 30 June 2020) last month and has been holding events around the District for people to chat with elected members and staff about the proposed changes.
The final have your say event is in Katikati this Saturday, 13 April, 9am until 12pm, in the Community Hub at the Centre - Pātuki Manawa.
