Books of condolence open
Monday, 18 March 2019
Books of condolence have been made available at Western Bay of Plenty District Council offices and libraries in Katikati, Tauranga and Te Puke following the Christchurch terror attacks last Friday.
Mayor Garry Webber says the books provide another opportunity for people to express their sympathies to the victims, their families, the people of Christchurch and to Muslim communities around New Zealand.
"We made books available after the Christchurch earthquakes and hundreds of residents and visitors to the Western Bay took the opportunity to share their thoughts.
"The condolence books will open for as long as needed and at an appropriate time be sent to the Mayor of Christchurch and leaders of the Christchurch Muslim community on behalf of the people of the Western Bay," says Garry.
