What’s next for TECT Park?
Western Bay of Plenty District Council General Manager Infrastructure Group, Cedric Crow says the park continues to evolve with sustainability, education, and cultural significance, key to the park’s future, along with providing for the many clubs and user groups.
“This park is a great example of what is possible when we work in partnership with Tauranga City Council and our community.
“We’re excited to hear from our community on what else they would like established or to experience at the park, as this will help guide our thinking to shape the park’s future direction.”
Tauranga City Council Spaces and Places Manager Alison Law says TECT Park is entering an exciting new phase.
“TECT Park is a real local asset for those who love the outdoors, or those looking for a new hobby or challenge outside of their comfort zone.
“Since it opened, we’ve seen TECT Park grow with what it can offer, and this will continue in the coming years.”

About TECT Park
Western Bay of Plenty District Council and Tauranga City Council jointly purchased TECT Park in 2004 with a vision to create a giant adventure playground, and a permanent home for big and loud activities.
Supported by naming rights sponsor TECT, the park continues to focus on sustainability, education, cultural significance, and participation and has gone on to win numerous international awards, including a place in the Top 10 International People’s Choice for Green Flag Award winning parks.
TECT Park is open seven days a week and provides free to access public facilities including tracks for walking, mountain biking, equestrian, motorcycling, an off-leash dog exercise area, indoor classroom, BBQ, and camping facilities (including freedom camping).
Several user groups and organisations are based at the park and have invested significantly in their clubs and facilities.
These include club shooting ranges, including Pistol, Clay Target, Deerstalkers, Paintball and Airsoft. There are also motorsports including a club motocross track, and model aircraft flying fields. The Adrenalin Forest high-wire adventure course is also a very popular tourist attraction.
