About the walk
61km Paengaroa to Okere Falls
27km Ridge Road to Okere Falls
The trail is exclusively for cyclists and walkers - no horse riding or vehicles are allowed. Although this is a cycleway, walkers are welcome to walk the trail at their leisure. Please take care and watch for cyclists.
The trail will take you through rural farmland, kiwifruit orchards, with amazing lake and coastal views. The 4km bush reserve at Ridge Road has lovely native bush to admire as you pass through.
The trail forms part of the Tauranga Moana Cycle Trail and ultimately the New Zealand Cycle Trail network.
A catchment care group comprising members of the trails group and the Paengaroa community is responsible for planting and weed work within the 4km bush trail, which provides a picturesque and safe route away from a busy section of SH33 between Paengaroa and Rotorua.
