Getting there
190 McLaren Falls Road, Omanawa
About 15 minutes from Tauranga City on State Highway 29, you'll find McLaren Falls Road to the left. Turn into McLaren Falls Road and follow signage to McLaren Falls Park. Take care driving over the one way bridge at the waterfall. Once inside the gates, slow vehicle access is available throughout the park for easy access to picnic areas and walking tracks. Or you can park in the top car park and explore the park from there.
About the walks
Owned and managed by Tauranga City Council, McLaren Falls consists of 190 hectares of lakeland park with one of the best botanical collections of trees in the North Island, with extensive walkways throughout.
The park is popular for walking, camping, fishing, kayaking, disc golf, picnics and much more.
One of the highlights of the park is the waterfall track where you can see glowworms after dusk. Enjoy a short, easy stroll to the picturesque waterfall and spot the glowworms on either side of the track. Part of the waterfall track is also wheelchair and mobility scooter friendly.
