Partial closure of Ōmokoroa to Tauranga cycleway

Kia ora team, thanks for your patience so far. It's a bit of tricky site, we don't have control over the reopening of the trail because it's not yet public land. So for now, please use the detour options and stay outside the barriers. We will update you once the cycleway is ready.

A section of the Ōmokoroa to Tauranga cycleway, in the Lynley Park area, will be closed for several weeks, from Monday 6 May, while important wastewater works are taking place.

Due to the terrain, a bypass is not possible, so the 120m section of track, from Lakeside Terrace, will be completely blocked off during this time.

The work includes a wastewater pump station, which is necessary for an adjoining subdivision. This section of trail is currently on private land, but it will eventually be vested to Council as part of the subdivision consent.

While there is an alternative route, it is much longer and may not be a suitable choice for all users. Cyclists and walkers are advised to view a map of the area on the Council website if they are planning to take this route.

The cycleway closure will be clearly sign-posted and people are urged to stay safe, by keeping out of the area during this time.

Depending on the weather, the section of trail is expected to remain closed for up to six weeks.
