The Omokoroa Domain

You may have spotted the cameras keeping an eye on Omokoroa Domain over summer.

We've been using these to track user numbers and movements so we have good data on the way the domain and surrounding area is used.

The reason for this camera footage is to help in our planning for the future of this significant community space as Omokoroa grows.

Specifically we want to understand vehicle movements, pedestrian use, boating activity to and from the ramp and parking occupancy.

After the data is collected, we will invite stakeholders to a workshop in May to discuss short term and longer term development plans for the Domain, and the role other reserves in Omokoroa can play in catering for growth.

This could include a re-design of the Domain and we will discuss matters such as parking enforcement options; freedom camping, dedicated boat trailer parks, etc. We are also planning to upgrade the Domain playground.

Once we have some draft plans we'll hold a public open day to get feedback from the wider community on the options.
