Aerated water in Katikati safe

A water mains break in Katikati is the cause of the town's water looking cloudy or aerated over the last two days.

The break was repaired on Tuesday morning and this let air into the pipes, resulting in a cloudy appearance which is caused by lots of micro air bubbles forming in the tap.

The water is perfectly safe to drink and bathe in.

If you're concerned, let your glass of water stand for 10-20 minutes before drinking (it should be clear in that time), or you can run your cold tap for 30 seconds.
