A beating heart for Katikati
Pātuki Manawa' which means the beating heart.
This is a potential name for the yet-to-be built Katikati Library, Service Centre and Community Hub.
Western Bay of Plenty District Council Mayor Garry Webber says these buildings will be much more than just a library, Council service centre and community hub and because of this deserves a fitting name.
Council is keen to hear locals' thoughts on the name and any and all alternative suggestions on their Facebook page before making a decision.
The buildings will be a collaboration space, an economic and business hub, as well as a thriving social hub for education, creative and cultural groups to collaborate and come together. That's why we're looking for an appropriate name for what we hope will become the heart of Katikati.
Residents have until Thursday, 24 August to share their thoughts and ideas on the name.
Construction starts on August 28.
